2019 Toyota Prius
2019 Prius Overview
Toyota’s 2019 entry into the Prius family reliably upholds the vehicle’s reputation for economy and environmental friendliness. It delivers up to an EPA-estimated 54 MPG city and 50 MPG on the highway. It has plenty of room as well, clocking in with up to 65.5 cubic ft of cargo space before you add an available roof rack. However, at Keating’s Toyota of Alvin one of the car’s aspects that we’re most excited about is the Toyota Safety Sense P suite of safety features. This advanced group of cutting edge driver’s assistance and safety functions is all the more impressive when you realize that they’re included standard. You’ll look forward to everyday driving knowing that Toyota Safety Sense P is onboard.
2019 Prius TSSP Overview
Let’s dive right into the different safety features that come standard with the 2019 Prius and Toyota Safety Sense P. First up is the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. If the system sees the potential for a forward collision it begins with an audible alarm and visual prompt. If brakes aren’t applied manually, the Prius may automatically engage the brakes to prevent an impact. The feature works with cars as well as pedestrians in the front of the vehicle.
The lane departure alert with steering assist technology initiates at speeds over 32 MPH, and is created to detect the lane markings on the road. Like the previous feature, it begins by warning the driver that the car has shifted outside the proper lane boundary. Then if no action is taken can slightly edge the driving path back into the lane.
Full speed dynamic radar cruise control is reminiscent of legacy cruise control systems because it lets drivers designate a speed for the car to remain in. It pushes the feature further by adding a camera embedded in the Prius’ grille that can keep a constant distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. It notices when traffic begins to decelerate and can downshift your car’s speed in response. You won’t miss a beat when driving with this new form of cruise control.
The Prius’ automatic high beam function can give drivers better nighttime visibility. It works by detecting the taillights of cars ahead of you and the headlights of those moving in the opposite direction. The car’s high beams are then appropriately switched on and off, giving drivers the maximum amount of visibility possible at night.
