Give Toyota of Alvin an opportunity to prove to you why you needn’t go elsewhere, if you’re in the market for a Corolla. In fact, we’ve put together a 2020 Corolla trim comparison, to give you a brief run-down of the differences between the various trims: L, LE, XLE, SE, SE 6MT, and XSE.

The L Trim starts out at $19,500. It’s powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine with 139 hp, which is mated to Toyota’s Continuously Variable Transmission with Intelligence and Shift Mode. Its fuel economy is impressive, with a fuel economy rating of 30mpg in the city, 38mpg on the highway, and 33mpg combined. A few other features that can be found on this trim are LED headlights and taillights, and integrated backup camera, a 7-inch touch screen display with Apple CarPlay compatibility, Amazon Alexa Connectivity, and Toyota Safety Sense (included on every trim).

Starting out at $19,950, the LE Trim shares the same engine, transmission, and fuel economy as the preceding trim. Standard features from the L Trim carry over, or are replaced. Some added amenities in the LE Trim include automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, premium fabric trimmed seats, and an 8-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay compatibility. Add the available LE Premium Package and get a moonroof, 16-inch alloy wheels, blind spot monitoring (BSM), and a Smart Key System.

The XLE Trim starts out at $23,950. This trim inherits the same engine and transmission as the L and LE, but its fuel economy sees a slight decrease: 29 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and a combined fuel economy rating of 32 mpg. This trim adds to or replaces the features found on the LE Trim. 16-inch alloy wheels are standard on the XLE, as are high-grade LED headlights, BSM, and a moonroof. The Softex-trimmed heated front sport seats as another added bonus to this trim level. The XLE Connectivity Package and XLE Advanced Lighting Package are other ways to enhance your experience in the XLE Trim.

Starting at $22,950 the Hybrid LE is for those who enjoy the Corolla experience, and hybrid fuel economy. The Hybrid LE Trim also adds to or replaces features found on the LE Trim. The Hybrid LE is powered by a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine with Hybrid Synergy Drive. The Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission helps the 1.8L achieve amazing gas mileage: 52 mpg combined! High grade LED headlights and taillights, and 15-inch alloy wheels are standard at this trim level. An integrated backup camera with projected path, a Smart Key System, three drive modes, and an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay compatibility are all great features on this Corolla hybrid.

The SE starts out at $21,950. At this trim level, features will also add to or replace ones from the LE Trim. The power plant here is a 2.0L 4-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine (169hp), with normal and sport driving modes. Toyota’s Dynamic Shift CVT works perfectly with the motor, and fuel economy is a result of the efficient duo: 31 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. The two driving modes, Normal and Sport, are fun to toggle between, especially when engaging the gears with the paddle shifters, which never require that you take your hands off the leather trimmed steering wheel. 18-inch machined alloy wheels with dark gray painted accents are just the tip of the this trim’s sportier appearance. Gray metallic sport side rocker panels, a color-keyed rear spoiler, a sport mesh gray metallic front grill with LED accent lighting, and a dual chrome-tipped exhaust clearly show that the SE is a Corolla with an attitude adjustment. Available packages include SE Premium Package, SE Connectivity Package, and SE Connectivity Package with JBL Audio.

The SE 6MT Starts out at $22,650. The same 2.0L 4-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine, with 169 hp powers the SE 6MT Trim, but a major change is one that purists will appreciate: manual transmission–hence the MT in the Trim name. 29 mpg in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and a combined 32 mpg can be had, all while merrily shifting with the 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). The Power Tilt/Slide Moonroof with Sliding Sunshade is a great way to enjoy the drive from your premium sport seats with sport fabric inserts. The Smart Key System and push button start help round out the features that make the SE 6MT the preferred choice of many driving purists.

At $25,450, the top tier of the Corolla is an absolute bargain. The same 2.0L 4-cylinder from the SE and SE 6MT creates the same power figures and is paired with the Dynamic-Shift CVT; Normal and Sport modes don’t affect the top ranking Corolla’s fuel economy much: 31 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. BSM is included in the color matched side mirrors, with integrated turn signals. The moonroof and gray metallic sport side rocker panels and rear spoiler help the XSE display its rank among the Corollas. The SofTex-Trimmed heated front sport seats with sport fabric inserts boast great adjustability, with an eight-way power adjustable front-seat with power lumbar support and a four-way adjustable front passenger seat. Packages include the XSE Connectivity Package and the XSE Advanced Lighting Package.
